When I published the latest “Patterns from other website“, I told you that I had added some wrinkles to Oogie Boogie in order to give him a little bit more details. I was very happy to know that a lot of you liked those wrinkles, included Oogie’s pattern designer : Nichole’s nerdy knots.
So, I made a short tutorial you can use if you’d like to add wrinkles to your Oogie too, or any other amigurumi (I think of dress pleats for example)
In order to do so, I used Oogie’s back, as it was still “un-wrinkled” :D
I pinched the “fabric” between my fingers and pinned the wrinkle thus formed.
and repeated that step as many time as necessary
Once everything is pinned into place, thread your tapestry (or wool) needle with the yarn used to make Oogie. Insert it it his body and pull it out next to a wrinkle. Don’t forget to leave a piece of yarn hanging where you inserted your needle. (we basically use the same technique as to embroider amigurumi details)
Then start to sew the sides of your wrinkles.
In order to make your seams invisible, be careful not to make too big stitches. (as in the example below)
You’d rather make small ones :
Go on like that with the other wrinkles
When your’re done, get your needle out exactly where you insert it at the beginning. Tie in a double knot, cut the excess of yarn and push the knot inside your Oogie with your needle eye.
And, you’re done !
I hope this tutorial will be useful to you !
I would like to get the pattern for oogie boogie man, it says free but it don’t show me how, plz help me!! THANK YOU !!
At the end of the first section, click on the name of the designer “nichole nerdy knots”, that’s the direct link to the pattern (without the pleats)
can you explain the mouth on Oogie Boogie? Thanks
Hi, I’m sorry but I’m not the designer of this pattern, this is just a tutorial to add pleats to the original design. Please contact Nichole’s nerdy knot who is its original designer.
I’m learning all I can about amigurumi and thought I found nirvana when lord Google finally gave me the ticket to your site. Thank you so much for sharing!!!!
Oh my :) I’m so glad I could help you ! :) Have fun with amigurumis ! :)
Where would i be able to find the pattern since the original is no longer available?
